Hiccups- Somebody remembers You?

Did you hear about the phrase, if you have hiccups- it means someone remembers you. Well I will tell you what is the fact. Is it someone really remembers you? Or you need to drink waters because your cells are drained out of water? Or everything is superstitious or say its irrational.

The contractions that can not be controlled or myclonic jerk of the diaphragm is called hiccups. Before i go into further details let me give a brief explanation of diaphragm. Diaphragm is the muscle between the chest and abdomen, just below the lungs, that facilitate the air into chest called inspiration and then expiration takes place when carbon-dioxide is released, which is the process of breathing.

I will start with normal breathing process, as we inhale through mouth, where does the air go, into lungs? Yes, it does but it passes through different sections. Air taken from nose or mouth flows through pharynx, then it passes through the gottis and then into larynx, followed by trachea and ending then it finally ends into lungs.

'Somebody remembers you' it is a grandma's made up phrase, so that you forget about the hiccups and start pertaining to your thoughts about the person who conjure up. Although, hiccups do not take much time and it unremitting. But if they persist in then personal care should be taken and in intense case doctor's prescription should be followed.

Say Hi to Goggles - in Night??

Hey guys, sorry for not writing blog for so long, well don't worry, I am back..

Well lets leave the joke behind, and talk about something, that is interesting. Do you wonder about how things actually work. Did you ever gave a thought about spy movies which show actor uses Goggles to see dark building and trees in moonlight, aren't you inquisitive? Do you know how Night Vision Goggles work?

Night Goggles works, they are real. You will be fascinated to know the fact this night vision equipment works over 200 yards away from moonless, or say cloudy night. Night Goggles in technical terms uses a single intensifier tube with twin eyepieces, which provide true stereo vision by utilizing image tubes for each eye.

Important stuff to know is dim light which are made of particles called photons, enters the lens. These photons strike the photocathode. Photocathode is a light-sensitive surface which converts photons into electrons, these are tiny, subatomic particles carrying electricity round a circuit. How does electrons multiply? It is only by photomultipiler. Each electron enters the photomultiplier which results in more electrons. Finally, we come to a bright and clear original scene in night, when these electrons which enters the photomultiplier hit a phosphor screen and create small flashes of light. More and more photons enters the screen and you see a clear and bright picture.

Technically speaking, there are two types of technologies used in this, which are as follows:

One of the technology is collecting the tiny amount of light, and the lower portion of the infrared light spectrum which are imperceptible to our eyes. This overall process amplifies it to a point, so that we can see the object in night, and this is called image enhancement.

Another technology which operates is thermal imaging which is operated by emitting heat while capturing upper portion of the infrared light spectrum.

Deja vu- Do you think You have read it before!

                                                                                                                     - Florence King

When you go to a theme park, did you ever feel that you visited this park before? Or to a place where you feel exactly its a place you have been here but when, you can't remember. Its Deja Vu, kinda different name, many of us would have probably heard about it but
of us have experienced it, probably some of them are unaware of what that situation might be called. Well, not a problem for those who do not know about it, lets discuss it, from its little history to present meaning.

In 1876,  French scientist Emile Boirac named the strange phenomenon in which a person sometimes get a glimpse of an object or a situation to a full conscious perception, which results into a false sense of familiarity known as Déjà vu which is a French term that means "already seen" also there are similar words such as already experienced which is déjà vécu, also déjà senti is already thought; and déjà visité is already visited.

A false impression of feeling of objects and situations that can be recollected from unsettling experience with a remembrance of a strong feeling that happened before, which actually did not happened, is what Deja vu being known for. There are sometimes which follow specific events and circumstances where we feel the remembrance works on the fact that result from an overlap between the neurological systems responsible for short-term memory. Looking it logically, one reason could be that events could be stored into memory in the concious part of the brain and another could be brain processes the sensory input as a memory, and during the event one believes it to be a past memory, yet it is only a memory-in-progress.

Believe it or not, earlier there were serious links attached to Deja vu with schizophrenia, also other psychiatric conditions but theory in reality have failed to establish a link. Although there is pathological association of Deja vu with temporal lobe epilepsy and alzheimer's which speculated the fact of neurological anomaly related to improper electrical discharge in the brain. It is possible phenomena that people can suffer from mild epilepsy and it is conjectured that a mild neurological aberration occurs in Deja vu, resulting in an erroneous sensation of memory. Certain pharmaceutical drugs can increase the chances of Deja vu.

It would be interesting to know that some parapsychologist like Ian Stevenson have explained that Deja vu can be explained on the basis of reincarnation. Anthony Peake mentioned that people are living their lives not for the first time but at least the second. In India, the belief of Deja vu is related to the occurrence or repetition of things and situations, as past is believed not to be dead, what is seen in present has Deja vu only because it will occur in the future and so there is sense of familiarity in the present. Past, present and future continuously works in there parallel universe, they can never go, they will remain forever.

Isn't it interesting, Deja vu, but there are other concepts like Deja Vu.
Jamais vu is a French word meaning "never seen". Jamais vu makes believe the observer that situation is not familiar or it is seen for the first time, but it is only in a situation when the observer has seen it before also. In Jamais vu not only the situation is involved but also place, person and even a word could not be recognized. It is associated with aphasia, amnesia and epilepsy.

Another one is Presque vu is again a French word known as "almost seen". It is a situation when someone cannot recall a familiar word or name, but with effort one eventually recalls the elusive memory. In simple words, it is occurred before, but the details are elusive because the situation never happened before. It is also called tip of the tongue because when one is experiencing the Presque vu they say it is almost on my tip of tongue.

Other include Reja vu, which is something which is already happening, tends to make feel that it will happen again, in near or distant future.

There is one more to a related phenomena which is Deja entendu which is in French "already heard", it is interesting that it gives a feeling of surety that person has already heard the thing, even though it can be imagined or assumed.

The Lizard-Spock Expansion

Hey guys!

I was thinking about The Big Bang Theory episode 8 in season 2 The Lizard-Spock Expansion, can it be possible or true? Let's think about it, may be.. It is possible that a Rock-Paper-Scissors (The game is also known as roshambo) can be extended to Lizard-Spock. Why don't we go into history of this game?

Do you know that Rock-Paper-Scissors was started in 206 BC - 220 AD in the Chinese Han Dynasty? The game at that time was called as Stone-Paper-Scissors or shoushiling. But game became popular in Japan in 18th century, which was known as janken, Ishiken or rock ken.

Centuries’ old game had its modified version in 1998 on a website by Sam Kass. After some additions in the game, Sam Kass called it Rock-Paper-Scissors-Spock-Lizard. The Times in 2005 mentioned about the game, also USA Rock-Paper-Scissors League sponsored by Bud Light, started in April 2006, the inaugural USARPS Championship was held in Las Vegas, there are other tournaments and championships which were held in other countries like UK and there was even Guinness Book of World Records. But the five-weapon expansion game came with a bang in The Big Bang Theory in 2008, when Dr. Sheldon Cooper explained the game, although when he starts to speak I feel will he ever stop but he gave a perfect explanation for this game, which is as follows; Scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitates lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock, and as it always has, rock crushes scissors. Although Dr. Sheldon Cooper again uses this game in 2012 episode "The Rothman Disintegration".

And I thought that the game was for little fun. It had a whole lot of history from 206 BC, I didn’t even imaged that this simple game would have tournaments and championships. I wish, I would have taken it seriously in my childhood, who knows my name was there in Guinness Book of World Records.

External Locus of Identity

Being a psychiatrist and a neuroscientist Leonard Hofstader's mom, gave a hard hitting statement on people who go into performing arts suffer from an external locus of identity. Beautiful Penny could not imagine that something of this could come out, so she burst into tears by the time Leonard's mom and Penny reach to apartment 4A. Can it be possible, that people like Penny being beautiful and smart (not nerd) can sufferer from External Locus of Identity, according to Leonard's mom people who perform in arts, do so because they seek approval from others about themselves, typically due to unmet childhood emotional needs.

What is the concept in totality.. Here's the explanation which refers to as personality psychology which came into relevance in 1954, by Julian B. Rotter, in other words individuals believe that they can control events that affect them. Locus in Latin means place or location, which is conceptualised as internal or external.

People with a high internal locus believe that they can control their life from their own actions; and if these people are unable to perform well then they would blame it on lack of preparedness on their part. People with a high internal locus also tend to exhibit better control of their behaviour and attempt to influence others, they are also more politically involved, and  believes that their likelihood to their efforts being successful.

But when a person with a high external locus does poorly on a given particular test, they might attribute this to the difficulty of the test questions, they tend to put the things as they didn’t go well with them, giving explanations to all sorts of things involved in surroundings, or distorting environment, examiner being tuff which they cannot influence and so on. If they performed well on a test, they might think the teacher was lenient or that they were lucky.

Dr. Beverly Hofstadter might have recognised Penny’s eternal locus as she cannot influence on the situations in front of her when she was a child and might need others to give approval so that she could make herself satisfy for the fact that her needs were not completed when she a kid. Think about it..

Science Behind Taste

Hey guys, I was just thinking about what could be the logical reason behind taste. Well I know its just taste, may be you can say its taste of buds or taste which is sweet, sour, bitter, or salty, but have you ever imagined that there can be science behind how we taste. Trust me there can be science behind every thing, let’s not go in there. Have you ever gave a thought on everyone has different preference on taste. Why one person does eats sprouts and other eats only peas? Taste is one of the senses that added flavor in everybody’s life.

"The sense of taste is a sensory system like the eye,"
--Ilene Bernstein, PhD, a professor of psychology at the University of Washington.

Taste acts as a sense to the perception of combination of the chemical signals that begins when we taste something with our tongue. There are not four categories to taste like sweet, sour, bitter, or salty, there are five which is Umami. Umami is Japanese meaning "pleasant savory taste". Taste is not just what is on your buds but it is more than that as to how food looks smells and sounds. Some food has a crunch while eating them or there are few drinks from them we get certain aroma.

Other factors could be our environment, experience, age and most important is our genes. Genes play a major part in taste preferences, because of different receptors in different homo sapiens aggravates different tastes in different people. Besides genes Experience is also important as we grow we tend to have some liking for the food as we continue to eat  but specific flavours of mother’s diet passes to her infant through amniotic fluid. Although, we can say that everyone has a sweet tooth, according to a research we all tend to have positive responsive to sweet. While, on the other side salt preference is still not cleared but according to a research loss of electrolytes and sodium during morning sickness has an impact on the offspring's.

Backslash ' \ '

Backslash "\"

How easy it is to just click backslash on your computer isn't it? Well let's get a bit deeper in the science. Do you know how many people use computer each day? It is 2,267,233,742 according to 2011 statistics. That means there are so many people who have clicked backslash out of 6,930,055,154. But mechanics around backslash is the typographical mark; it is also called reverse solidus, slosh, hack, escape, knock-down character, reversed virgule, and backslat.

Backslash introduced by the Bob Bemer into ASCII as V and /\ in 1961. Let’s talk about its usage:

1. It is used in many programming languages like 'C', 'Unix' and 'Perl'.

2. In some other programming it also changes the literal characters into meta-characters and vice-versa.

3. In using the source code for some programming languages, it is used at the end of a line to indicate that the trailing newline character should be ignored, so that it looks like it is part of the current line.

4. Backslash is used by Microsoft core Windows as to separate directory and file components of a path.

5. MS-DOS 2.0 in 1983 used front slash but used backslash to allow paths to be typed into the command shell.

6. In Japan, while ISO 646, JISX 0201 and Shift JIS of the encoding were about to set and were to be used for backslash in ASCII, it was instead used for yen mark (¥), and in Korea it was used for won currency symbol (₩).

7. Backslash is also used as integer division in some BASIC programming language dialects.

8. Backslash is used for left matrix divide in MATLAB and GNU Octave.

9. In mathematics, set difference is denoted by the symbol backslash.

So, watch out for this little teeny tinny thing over here. Next time you use backslash, better be careful with the key, because it seems small but it is related to many of the programs and if not used properly it could change the programming language. That's a serious stuff!

Boxing is a Sweet Science

BOXING -a Sweet Science

"He boxed as though he were playing the violin."                       --Sportswriter Barney Nagler.

Barney Nagler,

So what were you thinking what's the topic for today, guess? Well, its all about boxing, may because of London Olympics 2012, but on the other side do you know boxing is also called sweet science. Thought people think boxing is violent, barbaric sport or a few of them think its a beautiful and artistic display of athleticism. Go deeper mechanics of boxing... think about its sheer display of expertise displayed by two talented fighters. Although you must be thinking its violent but look at the mechanics it works, its altogether skillful craft that involves sheer planning, then a strategy, it concludes as a Sweet Science.
To began with, lets go into details as to why this science appeared in first place. Egan was a British writer, who was famous for writing the article on Boxiana. The first volume was published in 1813, there he stated boxing as “Sweet Science of Bruising", its a phrase that used for boxers as both methodical and tough. Boxiana became famous and so the boxing is related to sweet science. By the time of 20th century, author AJ Libeling gave Egan a homage for Sweet Science which included successful fighters of the time included Ray Robinson, Rocky Marciano, and Jake Lamotta. And so came the name of Sugar Ray Robinson and Sugar Ray Leonard from sweet science.
As a matter of fact, boxing popularity has fallen. The most successful boxers have tactics and best skills summed up with a strategy and yet they are tough big guys. I have no idea why did I wrote this article, but isn't it cool to know boxing is related to sweet. Think about it!

Zero Hour DC Universe

Zero Hour

What about them, I mean by comic lovers. Oh! 5 issue comic Zero Hour was published in 1994. You intend open the minds, may be I can help you a-bit. What could be the possible futures (obviously in future) or on what timeline there could be the possibilities on crises on infinite Earths and situations to deal with alternate realities. Could you possibly imagine the world which would be different or which would have different crisis in different point of time with different Earth’s? I wondered what it could all be like?

You may wonder what does it hold inside, some of you may think its just a comic, we are hardly interested. But conclusions are yet to me made. Hal Jordan, a former hero who had been a member of intergalactic police force known as Green Lantern Corps. Hal was mad with grief with destruction of the time-stream by the efforts of Parallax. He obtained power and attempted to restructure the DC universe, but the twist follows with a super-villain. Extant, took advantage of the chaos and tried to use it to recreate the world in his own image. The conflict between them changes everything with entirely new Big Bang, which rebooted the entire DC Universe.

Let’s go in further little details

Rise of Monarch

You may wonder what is rise of Monarch, well he was a new villain from 40 years in the future. No wonder he killed every single superhero, and became authoritarian dictator of the entire Earth. Waverider (superhero) opposed Monarch, a man fused with the Timestream, he could travel back and he did travel back ten years before Monarch's rise to power to prevent his creation. With new powers, Monarch spent a good deal of time fighting Captain Atom all across the timestream. Later he became Extant, also stole Waverider's time gauntlets, and plunged himself into the timestream.

Fall of Hal Jordan

Talking about Hal Jordan who was resident hero Green Lantern, Hal's weakest moment came when he lost his loved ones, so he decided to use the power ring to recreat Coast City, for which he received summons from the Guardians of the Universe, to violate the principle rules for using the ring for personal gain. Hal absorbed the full power of the Guardians and then there was time of change, he emerged as the Power Battery, had complete new identity, with a new costume...... Now the name was Parallax.

Crisis in Time

Extant and Parallax, the two super villains, one who wanted to recreate the world in his own image and the second wanted to construct a better world and the following genocide of billions of people that would not have evils in it. Both attempt to destroy the time-streams using entropy (a hypothetical tendency for the universe to attain a state of maximum homogeneity in which all matter sat a uniform temperature (heat death)). To fight these villains Superman and Waverider of Linear Men united. The alternate timelines became blurred, by this time Extant kills Waverider from his timeline, and the Matthew Ryder of the regular timeline is forced to become the new Waverider. However, Parallax reveals attempting to recreate the Multiverse that existed prior to the crises on infinite Earths. Parallax is weakened by the Spectre and Green Arrow kills him. The Spectre then overloads damage with the cosmic energies unleashed in the fight, and a new Big bang is triggered. The timeline is rebooted with subtle differences, but guided by nature, and not by the hands of a villain.
Comic is far beyond the imaginations, with more characters and storyline in it. You would not stop thinking and reading, to know what’s next.

Bazinga!!

Bazinga guys!!
What you are thinking bazinga really is.. May be we should catch up a bit on what the word explains to us. As described by the other ground of internet world is "fooling". In a more detail form it comes from a word called Zing, which means to fool someone. Is it the real word or just made up in some on world of mind dictionary. Guess, listening it from a long time, I have realized that people like Dr. Sheldon Cooper has a clear knowledge about science which is remarkable. But despite of huge knowledge there's a speculation that he has curtain traits in his personality such as Aperger syndrome, obsessive-complusive personality disorder and asexuality; that proves that he clearly unknown to the fact that Bazinga is his self created word for gotcha. Clearly he has explanation to the Bazinga come from. Dr.Cooper look up the dictionary and say Zing, that would be enough. Dr. Cooper need to be clear on the words, well that's just an opinion, no offence.
BAZINGA!!
